Default 1994 2500Ram Overdrive not working

I just bought a 1994 2500 Ram with an auto tranny. It seems to shift three times nice and smooth when driving. When I hit the OD button on the dash nothing happens. The truck runs, shifts and drives the same. What could be the problem and how can I fix it.

When you are at highway speeds and hit that button it turns the O/D off and rpm will go up about 200, that's about all you'll notice.

If you're in town, you won't notice anything.

Even when on the highway it makes no difference. It dont change the RPM at all. It this going to be a problem when I tow with this truck. Will it burn up my tranny.

I wouldn't think it would harm the trans. But I'd still get it checked out because it could be robbing you of mpg when not towing. Could just be a minor connection issue.

Actually, when you tow or load (something heavy), you should NOT have the overdrive on.

If it's shifting 3 times, then the O/D isn't turning off which makes me think it's a switch problem.
