Regarding 4x4 vs 2wd....You just gotta be smarter with 2wd. 4x4 is an insurance policy or 4grand luxury option to me that I don't NEED. Nice to have but don't need it. It also makes everything else more expensive and there are more components to maintain/fix/replace.

I get where I need to with my 6in lift, 35in trail grapplers, trac-loc rear, and 4.10 gears....

All my off road toys and buggies I trailer with my truck are 2wd too...

2 wheeling is just more fun and more technical especially when trying to articulate over large boulders in my opinion. IF I get stuck or have issues, thats what my $200 winch is for....cheaper than 4x4!

I love how people try to convence themselves on not having 4wheel drives is better and cheaper. Not biying it.

Not saying 2wd is better just saying I don't NEED it. It would be a waste of my money and never get used....

Every time I go offroading with other people in their Jeeps and 4x4 trucks they always keep it in 2wd anyway.....more fun that way. 4x4 almost makes it too easy and idiot proof.

This is true. Mine is 2wd, if I need 4x4 I'll use my '92 Jeep. Besides all my buddies have 4x4's. They are nice to have, but i said I would never buy another 4x4 as a daily driver again...Like you said too much shit to have to replace, especially when the warranty runs out.

i had a lifted 2wd s10 with a locked rear end back in the day, went just as far if not farther than the 4x4s i used to go off road with in everything except mud over 2 feet deep. hell i led the way through the woods most of the time........then i bought a 4x4, and never used it in anything except the snow, it was a dandy tool but not a deal breaker for me.....now im back to a limited slip 2wd dually, she does everything i need her to do, i dont go wheeling anymore, just the seasonal roads getting to camp, if i want to go wheeling, i wont be beating the chit out of my nice truck that i still owe money on, thats for sure, learned that the hard way

Sorry I didn't mean to start a 2wd vs 4x4 war!! Here in PA you just don't see any lifted 2wd trucks...

I have the same thing....2012 Ram 1500 2wd and I'm looking at putting a lift on it. No way in HELL I would take my brand new 40k dollar truck off road and tear it up haha. And plus, in Texas the ladies looooovveee a jacked up truck =]

On that note, anyone recommend a 6" lift for a 2wd???

Also 4th gen rams come stock with 33's. With a 2.5 level you can fit 35's. Tried it, doesn't rub at all at a full left and right cut.

Well your the exception to the no rubbing with stock rims and 35"s...I don't think my stock tires were 33"s either...I have had to run spacers on the 33"s and the 35"s I now have.

Mine is 4x4 and I dumped a ton of cash but haven't torn it up...
