Default less MPG?

so i bought my 03 2500 about a month ago and the guy i bought it from said he just did the oil and any other basic maintenance. i checked the oil before i left his just to see for myself. since then i have driven it a little over 3000 miles and is time for a oil change. i took it to jiffy lube changed the oil and changed power steering fluids. I have driven it 60 miles since and have been getting less mpg... i know its a truck and is not suppose to get good mpg but it is getting 10 instead of the 12 to 13 i was getting before. am i missing something here?

ps yes i got my oil changed at jiffy lube due to lack of tools and they had a special for 15 bucks.

Not sure this would affect mpg because your truck does not have MDS, but what kind of oil did they put in it? What else did they do (change tire pressures, air filter, etc etc)?

i know that jiffy does check the tire pressure so that could be something to check out. as far as oil goes i put high mileage 30/10 pennzoil and yes i did replace the airfilter.

Keep in mind, if your driving into the wind, you'll get less MPG on a windy day, I found that out this weekend when I drove to Texas from Missouri. I got 13 to 14 going to TX but got 16 to 17 coming back. I won't mention my speed but lets just say it was ticket worthy, lol.

If the truck is starting to get worse mileage then you should maybe look into cleaning out the induction system. I did that to my truck and they clean out the throttle body and a bunch of other motor parts. I forget now what they all were. if you go to your closest dealer they may have that there for you to do. I noticed a big difference in responsiveness and a bit better MPGs. I only had 60,000kms on the truck when I did it but that shows how often you should clean out the trucks breathing system.

I dont know but it might be the fact that the truck is being given $15 special oil changes as well haha. You might start getting sludge buildup in the motor which might cause the truck to run like a dog. If you want the truck to run perfectly and to last long you might want to spend a little more when it is time for an oil change. Putting in a good oil makes a big difference in the trucks wear and tear of the motor. Spending an extra $50 every 5,000kms (3,000m) makes a big difference. And if you switch over to synthetic you can actually go longer without an oil change which in turn breaks even with the cost since you need less oil changes. I thought I would put my $.02 in, try to help you out for the future

...have you changed the plugs since you got it? also, consider going to full synthetics as well..

if it was me i and i might be wrong i would try this. Like people said check the filter, plugs tires, make sure you got all good air pressure, check see tires or old, check the fuel injectors (It might fix it). This might fix it but will cost you a bit. Try a new intake and a superchip and try a different grade fuel. go change your oil your self (you can use what oil you want compared to what they use)
