I'm undecided on which option would look best...so I am asking the group..."phoning a friend" if you will. My window vent/rain guards will be smoke colored as to blend in with the tint...in-channel of course. So which hood bug deflector do I go with? Chrome to match the grill, blue to match that sexy painted hood(LOL!) or smoke to match the window rain guards? Lookin' forward to everyone's answers! Thanks everyone!
I'd go with blue or chrome. Smoke would make a dividing line between the grille and hood. If that's what you're after, then go for it.
Also, stay away from deflectors that look like a "handle bar mustache".
When you put the deflector on, stop by Home Depot or Lowes and get some foam weather strip with adhesive back. Put it on the hood then install the deflector. This will keep the deflector from rubbing on your paint due to buffeting while going down the road.
Yeah...not really sure if I want that "dividing line" there. I guess that's why I asked on here. Haven'treally seen many pics with them on yet but who knows...there are a million pics on this forum! As for the foam...do you just put it on the front lip of the hood? Won't the adhesive ruin the paint? As for the "handle bar mustache" deflector...do you have an example of this? Not sure I know what you mean. Thanks again!
I have a chrome one you can see it in my sig. Only reason I got chrome is they don't make one in my truck's color.
The adhesive side on the foam goes against the front edge of the hood. Won't hurt the pain. That's how all the badges are held on.
"Handle bar mustache" deflectors are the ones that go out over the top of the headlights. I don't care for them. I like the kind that are an extended upside down U. You can see the different types on various sites that sell them.
I'd go with the color matched blue if you can get it. I was able to order the Mopar color matched in brilliant black. Here is a pic, http://www.ramforumz.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10965&d=1287854280. Not sure if you can get the color match in blue however it's worth a try. If not, i'd go with the smoked to match your tints.
you can always buy the one that looks best to you & then add a blue plastic film over it, i have not been able to find a blue bug shield, except the one with red & white along with it
Get the paint matched one from Mopar. They look awesome (don't have the "wings" down the sides that others have, makes it blend with the body lines really well.
i got the same color truck and have the chrome one . it blends in the the top part of the grill real well.....i got a pic on here if ya need to see one
