Default higher fronts than rear

Would there be any speed sensor or general issues if running 275/55/17's on the front and 345/40/17 in the rear fulltime on the street?
Do you think one could tell the difference by looking at it?

I'm guessing the idea is to level the truck. I doubt anyone casually looking at it would see the difference.

Mechanically I wouldn't see a problem if its not a 4x4. Your speedo would be set based on the rear tires because the sensor is either in the rear end or the trans.

However, you would not be able to rotate your tires which is a bad thing. Tires need to be rotated regularly for best performance from them.

If you have 4 wheel ABS , and if the abs computer detects a significant difference in the signals being generated from the different diameter wheels It could set a trouble code and shut off the abs . I'm not sure what the difference is in those tire sizes mentioned .

Tom is right. This could cause some ABS issues if the circumference of the tires is off by much.

Cool. Thanks for all the suggestions and pointers.

I am looking at TOYO TQ - 345/40/17 to run in the rear but did not want to change the front since they still have plenty of tire. Actually all 4 still have plenty of tread but have been thinking for quite some time in running DR's in the back and these have some puncture protection vs other D.O.T DR's

275/55/17 = 28.9
345/40/17 = 27.7

The easiest way to make sure the sizes you choose will work is to measure the circumference with a tailors tape measure. they can be had at Walmart for a couple of bucks. Use it to measure the circumference of the tires you want. I don't know what the threshold for triggering an ABS problem is but if you keep the difference between front and rear under 1/2", you should be ok.

your abs should be unaffected. the systems are seperate front to back, just like if your front tires where gripping fine but the rears where slidding, and vise versa, the abs knows and can adjust braking accordingly. in a 2wd truck you can pretty much do whatever you want with tires and wheels for that matter.
