Default Already regretting not getting the back-up camera...

I've had my 2011 Sport for only 2 days now and already i'm regretting not getting the factory back-up camera. I have the base 430 radio (non-nav), does anybody know if I can add the factory back-up camera and view through the head unit, or will I have to get an aftermarket camera and monitor?

-btw, awesome forum and lots of great information!

As far as I know you can add the camera to your existing setup. I looked at the install directions for the camera and it doesn't list any specific touch screen radios that must be used.

Check your local auto parts stores. I've seen back up cameras that bolt on the top of the license plate that come with their own screen and it's all wireless. I think the whole setup was like $80. I've been thinking about getting one for my truck.

on page 24 of the RBZ MultiMedia users manual

it talks about the back up camera, so it does work on yours,
the camera lens is in the tailgate handle, on the opposite side of the lock

I have the 430 Non-Nav RBZ like you with the camera. It is possible. I just think you have to run the wire the whole way back to the tailgate. Hopefully it is just plug-n-play from there...but I am not sure.

Mine is the RBZ non-Nav and I have the camera, love it. Only down side is in bright sunlight if you're wearing sunglasses you can't see much. Something about the camera itself, not the screen.

i have a 70 dollar wireless camera from autozone. it works great i mounted the screen above the rear view and the camera bolts onto your liscense plate bolts. i took the reverse pins out of the trailer hitch, cause who has reverse lights on a trailer, and i plugged in there so no wiring was damaged. its totally wireless so no need to run wires all over.

The reverse light feed on the 7 pin is also used for a surge brake system on a trailer. Without that power you won't be able to backup many trailers with surge brakes. Its a safety feature so the trailer can't roll away when unhooked. Just a little nearly useless info for you

I've installed the backup cam's on RER and RBZ radio's. I work at dodge. You would need to install a new tailgate handle (comes with camera), wiring harness from the camera to the engine bay (to splice into a wire into the tipm), a ground, and 3 wires that go into the back of the radio. Then the option needs to be added to your vehicle options, tipm reprogrammed, and voila.
