I was quoted $900 by my dealer, about $300 in parts and the rest labor. Needless to say I will attempt it myself for $600 in labor costs.
Where on LI are ya, and what dealer??? I was thinking about adding this to my Ram as well... maybe we can do an install day, I'm in Franklin Square Nassau Co.

It's funny, I have a 2011 truck that has a rear camera. I have not gotten used to it. I think using towing mirrors for 25 years has molded me into how I drive in reverse (I do a lot via plowing and towing trailers). Hard to teach an old dog new tricks I guess. I hear good things about them so I should spend the time to get used to it.

Finally got to the dealership, quoted me $290 for the parts and 2 hours labor @ $101 per hour, so for just under $500 dollars I can get the rear camera installed.............

Hardly useful in the winter unless you go back and clean the snow off of the lense a lot. I Hardly use mine so far as well. Getting the Allgig installed on Tuesday, then I will be able to monitor my trailers while I drive down the highway. Then it will be useful.

I have both the camera and back up sensors on the bumper that beep and show 3 lines on the dash then beep faster till it is one tone, with one line showing when within a foot away. I prefer the sensors over the camera.

Has anyone bought the OEM camera after the fact? I would love to know the price and whether or not it was a difficult install. I assume I would still have to go to the dealer to get it flashed to activate it...

I got an all gig from Sussane here on the forums and just a regular camera from a local audio shop. Drilled out the tailgate latch in the same spot as the factory cam goes and done. Now I can watch my DVD player when I please and can see what's behind me when I back up. The all gig also has the option of added a camera up front and has outputs for rear seat entertainment if you want.
