Default What a horrible morning!

I got a phone call while driving this morning so I pulled over to talk and write down a phone number, I was almost at a complete stop when I hit a huge hole that was so deep the front bumper hit the ground. The bumper bent and pushed into the fender and headlight, that whole corner is out of line. When I got out of the truck and saw the damage my stomach stared turning! This will be the first claim I have to file in my 20+ years of driving

That sucks! Get an estimate before you file the claim. It might be cheaper in the long run to foot the bill yourself.

The first place I went to was my buddies body shop, I was hoping I could get it done for under $1000.00....he walked outside took a look at everything and told me to call my insurance. He said nothing should need paint but that corner will have to be pulled straight and I will need several new parts. I have been with the same company for 14 years and this is the first claim I have to make so I'm hoping that will count for something.

Heck of a hole!!! Deep/hard enough to jack up your headlight,,,

Sucks to the 14th power,,,

Front chrome bumper 'skin' alone will run ya about 450 or so,,,, There are also a series of brackets that attach it to the frame of your truck,,,

Hate to hear and see that, Maybe you can fix it yourself? I would try to if it was me. Id start inspecting stuff behind the bumper and all to see what went on back there. Maybe fixable by yourself? If anything needs pulling out you could get a cheap come-along or maybe barrow one from someone and pull it out.

If it were an older truck I might do that but with less than 3000 miles on it I rather take it to a shop and have it done right.

The road I was on is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and doesn't have a shoulder so I was basically in a ditch, the hole was about 3 feet deep and about 2 feet wide...The tire never made it to the bottom!

Sorry to hear and see this, must have been one heck of a hole. Hope you can get it all fixed up without to much hassle or expense. Definitely do as Greeneback73 suggested and talk with the dept. of highways. At the very least you should get some kind of reward for pointing it out to them, that thing is dangerous.
