Just trying to get the Throttle Body off now. Can anyone tell me how to take the cables off without breaking the plastic things?

Also there is a hose or something that is on the front near one of the sensors. how do I get that off too?

anyone have instructions or know the thread where I can find the info?

Thanks guys

I just took mine off recently to do this and i didnt have too much trouble with the cables...i just used a flat head screwdriver and pry-ed at it till it released...the bigger issue was trying to get them back on after ward cause they have a snap into place...as far as the hose it front just pull that off...be careful if its brittle or else you'll be replacing a hose....i also just un-bolted (three bolts) the black contraption so i didnt have to disconnect all the cables and all that...hope that helps just make sure you put the cables back in the right place and dont forget your gasket for the throttlebody...goodluck and if u got more questions i'm sure someone else can chime in if this didnt help

thanks Alfonso318. I unbolted the black thing the cables are attached to but they are still attached to the spring that controls the butterflies in the TB.

I will try to pop the cables off tomorrow with a screwdriver. hopefully they dont break. everything is just so brittle! I guess I have to pry all of them away from the TB towards the passenger side of the truck and not back towards the firewall? all three of them the same way?

Nah i think two are going opposite each other in the front then the one in the back was a PITA to put back on...what i meant by pry i guess was push with your finger on one side and then push with the flat head on the other...prying might snap it...that's how i did it...good luck

I did this on mine as well. If you dont have a loud exhaust system, you can hear a nice deep roar when you get on it.

Thanks guys. I got the TB off by pushing the cables up away from the TB.

I cut the silencers with a hacksaw blade and snapped the pieces off. then filed it down with a sanding plate on an angle grinder and rounded the edges with a half round file. then sanded it smooth, first with 100 then with 320 sandpaper. finally cleaner it up with carb cleaner and she is perfect!

To all the guys out there not sure about doing this because they dont think they have the skills, trust me I dont and I did it! Just take your time, dont rush and with help and advice from people on this forum it can be done easily. I dont have a Dermel, just use what you have lying around, it just might take a little longer. Have fun with it!

Thanks to everyone on here for all your help!

i soooo need to do it. maybe next winter when i don't drive it much, it'll be one of my projects.

thanks for the info. and yes, i would be one of those guys that worries about doing it right since i have hardly any experience putting "grinding" and "make it look pretty" together.
