thanks for the info. and yes, i would be one of those guys that worries about doing it right since i have hardly any experience putting "grinding" and "make it look pretty" together.
Next winter bro? I can hardly finish reading the mod threads cuz im running out the door to try it on my truck..... I know Im new at this too cuz I keep comin back to reread the threads cuz I screwed somthing up hehe. Doing it when trucks not being used as much is a wise decision.

trust me. in my single days, i had the laptop sitting in the garage to help me do mods and whatnot. now, with lil ones to help take care of (which i thoroughly enjoy), the only free time i have is after all the gals hit the sack and i'm so wired i can't sleep. which doesn't happen very often. soo yeah, my projects take much longer than the average person. been working my coolant issue since Nov. (if that gives you any idea.... )

Hey guys

My truck ran fine last week after doing the mod but started it yesterday and while at idle the truck was dropping down to about 400rpm then reving up to 2000rpm. it kept doing this on and off so I put it in drive and drove it for 15mins and it was ok. then driving it again on cruise control at 105km/h it kept fluttering around the 2000rpm point.

Any idea what I can do to stop it happening?

did you not clean everything spotless? maybe something got stuck in the IAC port...(if it even can)? vacuum leak possibly because TB gasket is bad? (cause it got reused, possibly?)

I did reuse the gasket so it is a possibility although it did look fine. thats the reason I reused it. I cleaned everything spotless so I dont think anything could be in the port.

Might try to buy a gasket, the reason I didnt was my local parts shop had to get them in from the US and the wernt cheap with shipping added. guess I might have to bite the bullet and do it.

Same thing happened to me too, check the vacum hose that plugs into the front of your tb with that worn out elbow and make sure its not clogged or maybe hose wasent pushed in all the way to were suction suffers. You might wana follow the same line to were it splits and check that conection aswell sometimes they snag due to all the tb moding comotion. Mines wasent connecting properly and that freaking little hose creates havac! make sure all your sensors snap in right and are free of debri.

SD... I feel ya when it comes to having little ones around they do demand alot of time and attention. We cant be selfish you right about that. Im currently not working thats why I got a whole lot of time on my hands while kids at school. dont mind my wierd sence of humor bud.

Your fluttering issue is most likely your TPS (throttle position sensor). You can run a voltage/resistance test of the sensor and circuit if you have a volt ohm meter.
There's also a test you can do on your IAC as well. You want to make sure your electrical connections are clean and tight.
A vacum leak would not go away from a drive.

uh.. yes it can go away. seen it personally. boss and I troubleshot a truck that had a vacuum leak that would "go away" after it was warmed up and everything expanded.... sealing itself. the way we finally found the problem... we had parked the truck outside (middle of winter and had other more pressing customer vehicles to work on), boss had me go out and spray carb cleaner around the TB. sure enough, engine would change how it ran... and as it warmed up... the "leak" would seal right up. we put a new gasket in... problem ba bye...

Not saying he has the same problem.... just throwing some info out there. it only take a pin hole to jack stuff up.

Thanks guys. I did wiggle the TPS connection and the revs changed. might try taking it off, cleaning it out and connecting it again. Is there something I can spray on the connection to clean it? WD40 etc?

I do have a multi metre too. how can I do the test? with the ohms should I use the calipers ontop to put around the individual wires?
