Default HID? Ballasts 35 or 55 what gives?

Okay I ordered some DDM tuning HID kits (35 watt ballasts). I installed the Fogs they are bright, no flicker. I read the DDM site and they recommend a 35 watt kit for the Fogs cause the 55 generates a lot of heat. So my question is will the 35 watt kit for my low beam headlights work or should I order the 55 watt kit? I ask cause the H11 bulb is rated at 55 watts. Anyone running 35 watt ballasts?

Funny thing is the Fogs are rated at 45 watts and the 35 watt HID kit works fine.

Thanks

You can run 35 watt fine. The difference between 55 watt and 35 watt is that 55 watt is a lot brighter but it gives off a lot of unnecessary glare.

HID's are more efficient and give off more light using less "watts" Standard Halogens put out about 500 lumens. In comparison 35W HIDs put out around 1000 lumens. HIDs don't vary in wattage like halogen bulbs so If the halogen bulb is an h11 and draws 55W you can still use a 35W HID kit and it won't affect anything. All it means is the ballast will draw 35W (all it needs). This means in your case your HID's will draw 15W less and put out twice as much light! As far as 55W vs. 35W there is a big difference in brightness. I run a set of 55W ddm HIDs and they are super bright. I have 10000K and they are barely blue. The 55W washes out alot of color so if you already have 35W fogs I'd stay with those. I don't plan on running fogs so I had no matching concerns.

I would recommend going with a 55w for your headlights. It makes the HIDs so much brighter its like night and day difference. I have the 55w in my headlights and the amount of light is incredible. You should order a whole kit made for the 55w since your sending so much more power.

If you get cheap kits the 55w ballast will actually wash out some of the color in the bulb. So if you have 8000k it will look like 6000k. I found a company that makes top notch kits and the color does not wash out at all.

I have 55w in my fogs and I have not had any problems with them.

I'm using 35 watt ballasts to drive 8,000K low beam HID's with no problem. With my truck lifted, even with the headlights adjusted properly, people hate me.

At least you have you headlights adjusted hahaha. With my 55w ballast the beam is so friggen high I actually light houses up top to bottom from at least 100 meters away. It is very bad on the road.

Yeah I'm on the same boat as you guys. My 55W 10000Ks are insane especially since how high they are off the ground!

I have 35 watt 6000K in the lows and fogs and people give me a flash or adjust their rearview mirrors every night. The only day at McDonald's at the late night drive thru this lady was covering her mirror.

In one night no lie, I swear on my mother's grave, I had 3 people pull over because they wanted me to pass because my lights were too bright.

HIDs own.

But yea as soon as I turn my lights on the hate begins but like they say "if you hate then you're doing something right."

For sure. I've had people pull over as well. Hate all you want. I'm not the only dude on the road with some bright as HIDs.

^Truth but it isn't often that you see trucks with HIDs well at least in my area.
