I actualy like the sound when the MDS kicks in. It gives the truck a nice rumble sound rather than a drone. I just think they run better without it. I guesss at the end of the day it comes down to peronal choice.

When I did a 3.5 hour drive one way while heading to vacation, I hit vary little traffic and managed to get 20.4. I never hand calculated it, thats going off what the truck says. Now that I have bigger tires and all my around the city driving is 11.8-12.5. I havnt done any longer trips hwy wise to see how it is yet.

I see people posting about turning MDS on and off. How do you do that? Reading of the mileage I need my truck to be looked at I might be getting 13

Does the post titled, "Disabling MDS Per Ram Engineers", that is two posts down cover this?

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

I avg 17 to 17.5 with it on or off, no difference. Its less annoying with it off in traffic though.

13 MPG or 13 Litres per 100K ?

Cdn trucks are in metric usually - though I think you can change it via the EVIC

I get about 21 mpg on my 2010 4x4 crew cab when I drive long distances. The only mod I have done was installing a K&N filter. I recommend it over a paper filter. Cotton = Better airflow

Since my wife is a BIG mpg freak, and gave me hell about getting a 4X4, I have been watching mine very closely from day one. The first 1000 miles, no matter how I drove, I could not get better than 17mpg, on the highway. In the 2000 mile range it added 1mpg up to 18mpg, again on flat road & highway driving. I just rolled over 3300 miles and the trip I just made to Houston netted me 19.5mpg. Now I dont know how to shut off the MDS so if it is activated, I have not noticed any difference. I always run 89octane fuel from a name brand location. I slowly accellerate to 71 to allow 6th gear to engage then back down to 68 and run cruise staying in the same RPM range. No jackrabbit starts, no hard accelleration. If I can keep it at around 19mpg on the highway, I will be a happy camper. I have made no mods to the engine, but with past experiences of changing out the stock air filter with a K&N, I will probably do that at around 5000 miles to see if it makes any difference. In the cars I have driven, before this truck, I always got anywhere from 1.5-3mpg in those cars by changing out the filter to a K&N. I hope it will help with the truck as well.
