2012 Ram here. As a hot rod enthusiast I want to hate the MDS but it's honestly not that bad. I can understand if you guys have exhaust drone. I drove a Trans Am with a very loud exhaust, every day, for the last year and a half. I honestly am loving having a quiet vehicle again.

I think what it comes down to, is that until someone can figure out how to tune these computers, there really is no point in modding them. The payoff for it just isn't there. To go from 305whp stock to 330ish with a cam is a joke, and a bad one at that. I also don't trust in modding your engine to that point without a custom tune to go with it.

In short - If you want to build a hot rod, find a project vehicle. You're better off enjoying the Ram as-is.

You have mds on your 05? Guess it was a optional and not required like 06+. Anyhow you can as mentioned you can get a superchips programmer 3865 and i think 3815 current version can do it too.

I turned my MDS off because I slapped a Flowmaster exhaust in my HEMI Ram and didn't want the "Honda Fart Pipe" effect. I also can afford the gas.

Following up, I used a Cortex 3950 which has a specific setting to delete the MDS. I understand Diablo does, too.

Default MDS and Milage

I to can get 21 mpg if I do 55 with the Cruise Control set. As soon as I hit 60-65 it drops to about 18-19 mpg. Around town is around 15mpg. As for the MDS, I can't feel or hear it. The only way I can tell it's on is by the ECO indicator. Thanks for all the great info!

ECO indicator? I didn't know there was a way to see that it was on... I only know it was working by the sound.... Where is that located? I have a 06 Ram 1500 Sport with the Hemi and I used to be able to hear that drone and didnt know what it was until I looked it up here and then my TIPM fired and had t get a new one... Not only do I not hear it kick in my gas mileage has dropped... I don't get it...
