Default Remote start does not work with low fuel

Just found this out today. I was driving to work and my low fuel light came on, and when I was about to leave work I hit the remote start button, and when I got out there, the truck wasn't running. Thought that was odd, so I clicked the button again, and just got one horn beep out of it, and it did not start. The Evic showed a message that the remote start was disabled. I was really wondering what was going on. Everything else was fine, it started up with the key just fine. Then the low fuel light came on like before and I thought that must have been the problem. So I stopped and filled it up, and then the remote start begun to work again.

I was kinda impressed they added that extra programing feature in there so you didn't use your last little bit of gas, and then can't make it to the gas station if its a ways away.

Yup, requires at least 1/4 tank. They don't want ya running out of gas.

in my opinion
running that low on fuel is a bad thing to do at any time, the fuel pump is cooled by the gas in the tank, letting it run low allows the fuel pump to get warm & that cuts down the life span of the pump

also when it gets low, chances of picking up crap that may be in tank are increased greatly

I wanted to test this and mine started with only 40 miles till empty...about an 1/8th of a tank. It is the factory remote start but I added it a months after buying the truck. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure it requires a 1/4 tank? Mine starts all the way until I get the fuel light on the dash. Usually I get the light on about 55km DTE (per the fuel thingy on the EVIC). This is well below 1/4 tank for me. Good feature, although did have me confused the first time I tried it too.

Another thing for us smarties about the starter. Apparently as a way a telling you the alarm has bene triggered (which I found out by setting off the panic when a buddy was sitting on my tailgate one day) is that the truck will not remote start if the panic/alarm has gone off. At least it will not start until the next time you start it manually, then it works fine.

Yeah your low fuel light has to be on for it to not start with the remote. If I remember right mine was at about 35-40 miles to empty on the EVIC. I had no problem with the remote start still working with under 1/4 tank left, it just triggered it to not work when the low fuel light came on.
