Well, I knew it was coming. Having bought my truck less than a week ago, my visual inspection revealed that the sway bar end links were completely shot, and the tie rod ends were well worn. Coming home from Karate class last night, I hit a hard bump in the road at 45-50 mph and DW took over, causing many a cuss word to be said from my wife in the passenger seat.
I've spent the morning getting all the replacement part #'s online (as well as prices
) and after tearing the truck down for a better inspection this coming weekend, I'll be breaking out the checkbook.
I'm torn on just going ahead and replacing the U and L ball joints as well. Looks like it will take 2-3 hours each side to break down the knuckles, a job I am not looking forward to.
Are ball joints an issue on these trucks and is there anything I should be aware before tearing into the front end?
The truck has 105k miles and from all indications, original parts.
