OK, sounds like I am in the ball park mileage wise. Good points. I will start making a manual calculations as well and compare to EVIC over time.

Question, do you guys believe in the 10% estimated better mileage with tonneau cover or just marketing bs?

My guess would be any benefit with a bed cover would be for highway mileage only. I'm skeptical of the 10% even on the highway but I do have a cover (Bakflip F1). I haven't done a comparison with/without so not commenting with any data at hand.

At one point and time this may have been true
But with todays areodynamics its a myth
I have watched countless online/tv test and today trucks are designed with this already in mind
There, at the head of the box, actually forms a type of cyclonic air that stays there as the truck moves and forces the air over it, and over the tailgate. That is why many new trucks have "spoilers" on the tailgate, to help with this issue
Having a tonneau cover actually increases drag and possibly even lessens MPG but not with any significance......

The best I've seen on my EVIC was 10.5L/100kms. that was driving at 90kms/hr. for about 2 hours cruise control on. I reset the EVIC while I was driving 90kms/hr. I have the 3.92 gears. And have the Mopar tonneau cover.
The best I've seen with the truck driving down the 401 was 12.5L/100kms. That was driving at 110kms/hr with the cruise control on. From Montreal to Kingston I was getting 13.5L/100kms. On the return trip that weekend I got 12.5L/100kms. I haven't calculated by hand. The highest I've seen the EVIC at was 22L/100kms. that was city driving. and Did I tell you I love the sound of the HEMI and dual exhaust?

There actually isn't any drag created by a tonneau, in fact if you have one, which I do on my truck, it is proven there is no benefit until you reach a speed of about 55 miles per hour, kind of like the myth if you drive with your tailgate down increases mileage, it has been proven quite the opposite, you get better mileage with it up.

My evic is displaying about 10.2 mpg right now. I've had it up to 16, but it's no fun to try to keep good gas mileage so I just play with it and watch it drop exponentially

Although I'll admit to looking at the evic display of gas milage I find it best to just not stress about mpg. I look at it like this I drive a TRUCK so when the light comes on I look for a station and fill it up.

I agree with Ramathorne. The covers on todays modern trucks are not going to have any true effect on mileage. Maybe at one perfect speed, but beyond that not really, and the cost-to benefit ratio is totally not worth it. I'd only get one of you like the looks or want to conceal goodies once in a while. Spend the money elsewhere otherwise.

2700 kilometer so far and only 400 are highway k's. I am a featherfoot and in the city I can do at best 15L per 100k. On the highway I was getting 22mpg using the evic. I am sure the mileage will get a little better after a few more k's. Right now with snow on the roads and -20C (roughly 0F) I am averaging 11.8 mpg=ouch. Good thing I get 48 cents per k (work) and really who buys a truck for stellar mpg.

FWIW, I noticed absolutely no change in my MPG after installing my Truxedo cover, and I'm a hard ass about watching my mileage.
