Default Uconnect Hard Drive Help

I have a 2010 Laramie with the 30G harddrive. I am having trouble loading songs onto. I have Itunes which I use to download music and have moved the songs to an external hard drive. When I plug it into the USB port on the truck it says its not an approved device or something to that effect. Not sure if its the fact thats its an external hard drive and not a thumb drive or what? Any ideas?

I use a 4G thumb drive and it works perfectly. And I use iTunes (which I HATE) to pull the songs from. So it's probably the drive your using. Is it a laptop or desktop type external drive? That could be the issue since it may need more power than the truck's USB can deliver. Not all USB's are the same in that regard. Thumb drives take very little power and almost always work on this situations. Hope that helps!

Its just an 80G external drive that I back up my pictures and music and stuff to. But that would make sense then if they take more power, I never thought of that.

iPods and thumb drives work well. I have an external hd for back-up too and its a power hog. Haven't tried to connect it to my truck, but I doubt it would work.

I have the same problem, almost. It has accepted the songs, but when I come back later, they are no longer there. Any help will be appreciated.

Your 2014 RAM does not have a hard drive as does the 2010. You remove the SD card or USB and you remove all songs.

this may help somewhat for those that have the 2013 & newer Rams
they have radio supplements that you can download
http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/owners/manuals/

for those that have the 2009 - 2012 Rams, go to this site
you need to know the 3 letters on the face of your radio, lower right corner, by the AUX port
Choose your radio & look for the radios owner manual

http://www.chrysler.com/en/owners/quality/rer/

if you have the RER 730N radio, look on page 47 of the radio manual, it reads

NOTE: When copying CD Audio to HDD, audio files
are converted from CD Audio to WMA. DVD-Audio
cannot be copied to the HDD.
Copy WMA/MP3 Files to Hard-Drive
You can copy MP3 and WMA formatted compressed
audio files from a disc or via USB (e.g., USB stick).
It is recommended to sort music files into folders

Fuller explanation follows on the next pages
