Default Integrated Trailer Brake Controller Kit Update

After weeks of prodding my dealer to escalate the ITBCM Kit availability question at Chrysler, the service manager did get a reply from Chrysler Engineering via his area representative.

Chrysler Engineering would not go into exact details but they said they are not comfortable with the kit they are working on. It had something to do with wiring that could cause problems. They anticipate now that the kit will be available in Feb 2011.

For them not to release the ITBCM kit Chrysler is obviously concerned about something going wrong for those who have already installed the replacement ITCBM controller.

I suggest everyone who has purchased the controller replacement part contact their dealer service manager and try and dig out what exactly the problem is. I would hate for someone to have a problem while towing no matter how remote the possibility.

I just got back from my dealer and the kit still doesn't have a price or available date but it does have a part number.

82212548 is the part number they gave me.

Well I had my kit installed today. They put some nice small scratches on the panels and they forgot a screw so when you would push a button the whole kit would slide in a little. I showed them on an optioned truck on the lot it wasn't suppose to do that so they opened it up and found the spot for the missing screw.

Then to top it off the controllers +- button is all shaky and only goes up if you press the + key really hard multiple times but the - key is okay. Earlier before I went to pick up the truck, they called telling me saying they couldn't get the controller to stay on(that's how its suppose to operate according to this site unless hooked up to a trailer) and I think they broke it pushing on it too hard. So now they are ordering another kit.

I informed them I will install this one my self since the evic is flashed(Thank god they didn't screw that up.) I really wish things would just work out for me but in the scheme of life I guess this isn't a big deal.

For those wanting to know why I had them do it in the first place, the dealership owed me the controller as part of my sales agreement.

Sorry no update on if this works for the 09.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. My 2010 I had the controller installed and it works great. I have the exact opposite problem, the tech's are great top notch. Parts guys need some more guidance on what will work and not work.

When I told them I wanted a controller they said it would not work. And they would not warrenty it. Spoke to my Tech and he said no problem, ordered it, came in, installed and flashed the computer no problems to report, its been installed for about 8 months so far.

Get this the Tech even said, if I am doing more electrical mods that require the computer to be flashed he said buy all your stuff and then I can save you some money by only flashing the computer once.

I am really happy with the Service Department.

First Post! I am looking into doing this mod myself also but, with the tan trim piece. Does anyone know if the Factory Controller has just one voltage applied to the trailer brakes or if it changes voltage with the pedal position or length of time the pedal is pressed.
