That's a new problem for me, normally it's the other way around, I've lost all AM, but have FM. I wonder if a grounding issue would cause this?

The 98 Ram I just bought is the same way. FM makes no sound. AM, cassette, and CD work fine. I'm planning to go to the salvage yard for another radio and hope that fixes it.

I don't know about radios newer than 1970s

on older radios, there was a adjustment close to the antenna cable, it is an adjustment screw that allows you to adjust the frequencies according to your location, sort of like a radio that is tuned for Florida, may not work as well in say New York, so you could adjust the frequencies.

It may be best just to find a radio that you know works, first checking your antenna wire, it may just need to be replaced

Another option is the spend $80 for a radio that is AM/FM/CD player, you can also get them with Ipod connectors

this happened to a guy in the toyota forum i was on when i had my tacoma... apparently his antennia wire was getting wet at some point between the radio and the antennia . it corroded the wire bad enough to where he wouldnt get any radio reception at all. he replaced the whole antennia wire and all and that fixed it.
