Default Thermostat question?

I have a dew thermostat related questions. Im goin to replace the hoses on my truck and im goin to go ahead and do the thermostat. Im ordering it from summit racing so does the brand really matter? I was goin to go with jet or hypertech. Also with the 180 temp thermostat is it goin to make a difference?

The engine will run a bit cooler with the 180 degree Tstat.

Brand won't matter. Just make sure the one you buy fits.

I bought the Jet T-Stat from Summit and it works great. My install was very simple with 2 bolts, and the whole process was only about a half hour with having to add some more coolant.

I think he was referring to all the stuff that needs removing to get to those two bolts that makes it a PITA.

Just watch how much you spend on it . You can get the same thing from any parts store . Don't spend no more than $10.00 for a new stat and gasket . You may want to consider replacing the radiator cap also . That is one of the most overlooked items that should be replaced on a routine basis .

Going from a 195 to a 180 T-stat may drop your fuel economy by 1-2mpg once the engine is warmed up. Sure, you get a little more power. But for the price of fuel going up, other mod's may be worth the effort.

i went to a 180 thermostat, and the truck seems to run a little better than with a 195 in.

your heat wont be as hot just fyi

also i have no proof that it is better for your truck, but i do know that mine does seem to run a little better

hopefully this helps
