Default Spindle Lift Question!!

So i was thinking about a lift, i was gonna go with a 3 inch body lift but had second thoughts and overheard something about a spindle lift about 3 or 4 inches so i needed to know what other parts would i need to replace or upgrade when installing the longer spindles??? Thanks Guys

Heres my truck by the way!!

You should just need the spindles, and depending on if you want to raise the back, just some blocks for the rear. Spindle lifts are very straight forward, they just lower the point where the wheeel attatches to gain the lift. I know on my 06 I had to get extended brake lines, but I think that is for 06+.

You need a lot more than just spindles!

A spindle lift describes a type of lift that uses a larger spindle to spread the distance between the the upper and lower control arms. Before there were spindle lifts, drop bracket lifts dropped the upper control arms down to mount to the factory spindles.

A spindle lift kit means you install a new lower cross member (which the lower control arms bolt to) and a bunch of other stuff.

They range from $1200 to $2500 depending on what shocks and other components you want with it.

Crawler: You are likely scaring this guy with misinformation. You are describing lift spindles to sound like a full on bracket lift. Volcom was right. A 2wd spindle lift is as simple as swapping the spindle, and likely a longer brake line depending on your application.

Assuming we are talking about a 2wd. I did not see that in the question. Maybe I should not have assumed it was a 4wd.

You cannot do a spindle lift on a 4x4 due to the axle shaft. Spindle lifts are for 2wd trucks only.

Some people use the terms "spindle lift" and "knuckle lift" to differentiate a kit that uses aftermarket knuckles to one that drops the upper control arm. It might not be proper terminology, but people use the terms interchangably.

Agreed we should be clear that we're talking about a two-wheel drive suspension lift.

I am aware of 4wd suspension lifts that include longer knuckles to compensate for the larger gap between the upper and lower a-arms. I just have not heard them named as you say. But, I guess it is possible. Perhaps geography plays a part in this terminology? Also, to be fair to you, he did not specify whether his truck is 2wd, or 4x4. I just figured it was 2wd since he was asking about a spindle lift, which is not an option on 4x4's. I guess this whole thing could have been avoided if we knew the drivetrain type from the beginning.

I got them from sdhq here in arizona, they were $120 and the part number is (CSS-D11-1). They were the cheapest at the time by like $5 you may have to call them to order it, not sire if it's listed on there website. http://www.superduty-hq.com/
