I put a Flow Master series 40 on my 2010 Ram w/ the 5.7 and I DO have a drone going down the hwy. Are you saying you don't get that with your Magna Flow?
If that's the case,..I'll pay to replace my 40 with the Magna Flow series you mentioned, because this drone is a pain in the butt trying to talk with my wife going down the road. (not to mention the sideways glance she gives me)lol. Let me know,..Sarge

My magnaflow was 65 or best offer. New. Needless to say I offered 58 and shipping was included. Cha-ching!! Btw My magnaflow is a 14" 20 after the inlet outlet pipes. Aggressive yes,but not bad with windows closed and stereo on<G>.Definately needs to get used to on the go. But really not bad. Buddy down the road who has a late 90's camaro with flowmasters is jealous with the sound. His is louder.

I have very little to no drone cruising the highway. I left the resonators on, but the sound is great when you need it.

Are you guys saying that you buy the muffler...and maybe an extension piece...and install it yourselves? All this for around $100? Hmmm...

that is exactly correct. Bolts right up, just takes time and you have to cut the extension pipe if using the 18" muffler. I had to cut recesses into the outlets to allow for the alignment welds on the factory dual outlets to fit into the muffler.

So why the 18" muffler? Why not bigger...or smaller for that matter?

Good question.
From the best of my reading and understanding:
14" is loudest due to less packing
18" is a good sound, louder than stock (avergae packing)
24" is same as stock (most packing)

This is just for Magnaflow.
