Default What are some good performance mods for a 4.7?

And the cost of them.

Thanks.

You could add a programmer, intake, and exhaust to your list. Prices vary depending on make. I'll just give you some estimates (remember that some are higher, some are lower) Around $350 for a programmer, $300 for an intake, a muffler swap is around $200 (depending on install) If you want more gains, you could look into headers, but I don't know how much money you're looking to spend.

Only performance mod i plan on is a programmer.
K&n says 8hp for 350 bucks. not worth it to me
Exhaust well i dont know much about them. And im happy with my stock. Not to loud at all.

How much Hp/tq is the 08 intake worth?
And how about the HO cams?

Thanks.

in the back of my StylinTrucks catalog K&N has a list of trucks with its HP gains.
2002-2010 get +8.63hp. 2008 and up 4.7 V8 have been completly redesigned. they get about 300hp stock versus 2007's at about 235hp. You add enough stuff and it will build up in hp. You just may not notice much if you add mods one at a time. over the next month or so I plan on piecing me together a cai. 80bucks homemade is better than 350 may not get much if anything out of it but it will be my creation and the sons will learn something new about trucks.

Like Kracheck was saying, a Cold Air Intake from K&N is rather expensive. You can get everything that you need from your local parts store and do it for cheap and get the same results. The muffler thing can be obtained pretty cheap as well. If you do the cold air intake you would be better served doing the exhaust as well. Not an intire exhaust, just the muffler. If you get the right one, like a Flowmaster 40 series, it will not be much louder than stock but it will flow better and be alot lighter than than the one you have now. With just those two you will increase your gas mileage, drop weight and pick up some decent horse power gain. Now the programer you are not going to get off cheap with. However I hear that it is worth the money in the long run because of the performance aspect and the gas mileage that it will pick up. Chrysler/ Dodge/ Jeep vehicles are notorious for being tuned very conseritive from the factory and although I dont have a tuner yet I can understand the benifit from haveing one. Thats the big three for the Dodge trucks. You can also look into changing your rear axle gearing as well, but the pros and cons to that are more of a preference than anything else so do your research before messing with them. Now for my all time favorite mod and the route that I am thinking about going myself would be to trade your truck in and get a HEMI......lol

i bought a k&n kit once...once
on my current truck- i have the airaid modular intake tube, which replaces the stock resonator box, combined with a fram air filter and opened up the bottom of the stock airbox. i've had better mileage and results with that than any other kit. i also have the airaid throttle body spacer which seems to do absolutely nothing - the only reason i have it is i got it for 15 bucks.

i also have a superchips flashpaq which opened up the truck nicely. aside from a catback bassani exhaust i'm pretty much stock.

He not talking about CAI's. Hes talking about the 08 intake manifold.
As for hp/tq gains ive never actually seen dyno results. To me it was a night and day difference and a well worth mod.
H.O.cams are nice if your not wanting to go crazy and your on a budget. 206 cams have been proven over and over with great results.

Tell me more about the intake swap/mod? Are we just talking about swapping out the older style manifold for the "post-2008" manifold?

4pnt7 - you said you thought it was a nite and day difference? Really, a lot more hp?

Were there any other issues? All the hoses and such matched up okay?
