Default 2010 Power Wagon Locking diffs question

Morning I'm new to this forum as I am new to having a dodge 2500. I had a 2002 1500 4.7 4x4 quad for 4 years but just traded up to the 2010 2500 Power Wagon. I love it!!! I saw the ad in Pop Mechanics and had to get one.

I've never owed anything like this before. It's getting the spray in box liner today but I think the next purchase are running boards as this thing is harder than hell to get into. It's a real step up from that 4.7 - literally.

Anyway, my question is - and I can't find this in the manual - but it has the lock diffs feature a long with the disconnecting sway bar. IT seems that the sway bar won't regsiter as unlocked fully until I move a bit. the disconnect light stays amber.

If I move the diff lock to rear or front and rear - the amber light doesn't stop flashing and the unlocked green light doesn't go out. What should I be seeing? Should the green light on the unlock go out when either the rear or both are engaged. Should the amber light be turning green or at least stop flashing?

Any help would be appreciated.

I hope you don't think of this as fly-by-night. I also own a Truimph TR6 and am very active on the 6pack forum.

Cheers,

Angus

I'm going to presume that they're set up like the Wrangler Rubicon and the locks will only work in 4 low. Are you trying to lock them with the transfer case in high range?

I tried that early on but only once and not since then. And it might have been the sequence. So four low and then lock up the diffs?

I tried last night. Shifted into 4 low. Hit the sway bar unlock then the the full diff. Sat for a bit - rolled forward a bit Sway bar registered as disconnected - then the front and finally the rear. Worked!

Cheers,

Just needed a little direction.

yup same as the jeeps, usually just need to move a bit before they will lock in as the gears have to line up right for the locker to engage fully, same as disengaging just roll it a bit so they fully disengage then your good to go
