Alright, my truck has been doing the stalling thing that theyre famous for. Cleaned the TB, new TPS, diff IAC, just spent $100 getting a CPS put in and its still stalling..... Enough of this throwing parts BS, taking it in tuesday to get put on the computer, gotta get this annoying issue solved.

I loved 318's, had two, one in an all original 72 Challenger , sold it with 144,000 on it and it still ran good, but burnt a little oil. The other was in a 74 Ram 4x4 that I beat the crap out of and the motor never quit...ever....good luck finding your problems.

My buddy has the 318, heads have never been off, with 500,400 miles on the engine, but, all the rest of the truck except the body has been replaced or rebuilt

He has the same engine quitting issue. last time that he had it towed, was 2 months ago & it has sat in the same spot since then, he checked everything out that he & others could think of, he even sent the computer out to be remanufactured, it still won't run. He is a fine mechanic in his own right, last time i spoke to him, he was going to have a electronics specialist come by & go through the electrical system

dont get me wrong, the 318 is good in the sense that it can run a long time, i just dont like the little quirks it has that seem almost impossible to diagnose and also its lack of power in the trucks, the reason im getting so irritated is cuz im in college and dont have alot of money to be throwing at this thing. hopefully next week the shop will find the problem, ill keep updates as i find stuff out.

I miss my 318, was a workhorse of an engine and a truck. Just out of curiosity, how high/low are you idling?

I would bet your problems are unrelated to the motor..sounds like electrical gremlins. Granated the 318 is underpowered for heavy towing, but is great for everyday use...but still it is no HEMI!!!! lol

When it first starts up it idles like nothing is wrong, but when it gets to operating temp it idles very rough at 500 rpm and sometimes even 250 rpm, it has progressively gotten worse and its a nightmare to drive. I just dont know anymore
