On another note, I love my 318! I have 178,000 miles on mine. Great engine, Not weak....Not sure what your talking about mine has plenty of power and no weak spots. Maybe you have a blown plenum? Also, Have you thought about a bad CAT? That could be all of your problems right there....Might wanna Look into that. Whatever it is, keep looking and asking questions we'll be here to give you some idea's.
Very well said!

Well i found out what the idling/stalling prob was, bad engine temp sensor. Put a new one in, dont stall, but now the check engine light is on (wasnt before), it takes 5-10 secs to turn over and fire, stalls when it goes into drive and reverse, and wont shift into the final drive gear so at 60 mph it runs at 2 grand and wont even try and shift up, (trans fluid is full) but it dont stall any other time, just one damn problem after another and not just the kind you can blow off. On the bright side, you are making progress. The new problem is likely something got left unhooked when you were installing the sensor. Double check everything..I like to take pictures before I start so that helps to see if I missed anything. But I am betting a wire is unhooked.

I hope thats all it is, i used a quater tank of gas on my way to school (around 50 miles one way) when it usually takes a little over a quater round trip.

Since the check engine light is on, go by any parts store and have them scan it.

they cant, its OBD1 and no one has it. the guy that i know has an adapter for his scanner (he was the one that found the bad engine temp sensor) and ima stop by his house tomorow. Ive been lookin at getting a new truck anyways, more like a 99-02 sport or 2500, ive been findin em pretty cheap around my area, if i can sell my motorcycle and my quad i can prolly do it.

It sounds like it needs to have a real mechanic look at it . You can do all your complaining about it but until you have the correct diagnosis done just keep throwing parts at it .

the guy that i know and that has been working on it is a real mechanic, he worked at the local ford dealership and was the highest paid mechanic there, so i think he knows what hes doing. Hes just helping me find whats wrong with it and im the one doing the work on it. I took two years of auto service in high school and currently in motorcycle mechanics in college, for the most part i know what im doing mechanically. I just dont have the resources to do it all myself so im going to other people before i go to a shop and spend more money than i have to.

We put it on the scanner tonight and its showing high voltage at the engine temp sensor, were thinking its the connector going to it, when i changed the sensor out the connector was very loose and brittle and i could pop it right off with no problem, im going to a dealership tomorow to get a new one and see if that is the fix.
