Default Fan always on

I just bought a 2006 Ram 1500 Quad cab 5.7L I've noticed that some air is always blowing out of the heat/AC vents even with the fan turned off. I have tried every setting, but nothing stops it. Thw same volume of air is coming out whether the truck is moving or sitting still.

Any ideas how to correct this or what to check?

Are you certain that the fan is actually running? The fan is located at the very right front of the passenger seat underneath the dash board. I would feel it and see if it is running. In addition, you can unplug the power connection from under the dash. Use a multimeter to test amp and volts on each setting.

You may also need to check the recirculator door.

Good luck!

Not certain that the fan is actually running, I'll check that and the door. Just noticed that when the fan is turned to off there is quite a bit of airflow (enough to be uncomfortable) from the vents in all control positions.

Thanks.

Is is just when the engine is running or is there air coming through the vents when the engine is off but the ignition is in the on position?

No air with the engine off...so it must be the recirculator door. Is it operated via a vacuum or electrical?

On the 02 - 05 it's electrical. I'm guessing it's probably electrical on your 06 as well.

Thanks. I found a video on here dealing with the door problems...either fails to close or open properly due to a broken hinge.
