Default Dealer made it worse!

had the truck in today for the brake line fitting recall. Truck felt fine before, now brake pedal is a lot softer. Any way to firm up the pedal feel myself. They apparently bled the system, I checked the Master cylinder level and it was full to the brim, even over the max fill line, so I tried to soak up a little to create an air pocket at least. I really don't feel like taking it back in, having the wheels removed, brakes bled again, yada , hoping there's something simple that can be done to firm it up.

The only option you have is bleeding the brakes regardless of who does it.

I took mine in for the recall and when I got back to my workplace I was able to pump about a half cup of fluid onto the ground under the truck. I took it back to the dealer and pumped some more onto the floor in the service department so they took the truck into the shop. When they brought it back out after fixing the problem and refilling the resevoir they told me there was nothing wrong. I guess I must be stupid?

Default Same problem

I had mine in for the same thing drove off with it same problem! i drove right
back and was in luck the mechanic that had worked on my truck was standing in
the service bay so he hopped in my truck and took it back and 5 minutes later was back. Problem solved! I asked him what he had done he told me that he bled the brakes electronically our trucks have a way to do that now! wheather or not he was BS'ing me or not im not sure but it was fixed and i know that bleeding brakes manually takes longer than 5 min. i have done it alot on my older cars.

I'm having a hard time imagining how that can be done electronically. To bleed the brakes you have to open the bleeders on the wheel cylinders or calipers. But I'm old school so who knew I have not heard about this recall, is it for all 2010 or only certain models ?

this is how to bleed brakes with only one person
http://www.brakebleeders.com/

i personally use the MITYVAC
http://www.eastwood.com/undercar-dri...e-bleeder.html

don't take this the wrong way

some people like to do it backwards

others like to do it the conventional way

Redneck way

doing it with 2 people, normal way its usually done

bleeding brakes electronically, ABS system, using scan tool

I'm also wondering if this is a recall on all 2010's as I find my brakes awful spongy and not very effective as well.
