Default 90 intake and exhaust /Computer ?

Hello. Heres the deal. I have a 90 Ramcharger and I want to free up the intake and exhaust. Any suggestions as to what may help.I know that true dauls but living in calif Thats a no,no still have to smog it ,But I was thinking of increasing the tube size from the manifolds to cat, put Hi flo cat on then increase size again to muff and either single out or dual out .but I have heard that TBI engines dont like changes, can the comp be reprogramed or chipped . Oh on the intake side just a low restrition a/f.
Thanks Charles

as far as the exhaust, when you up the pipe into and out of dont forget to get a bigger size cat or else the bigger pipe is wasted. with exhaust and a better air filter the computer SHOULD be able to make the minor adjustments as far as tuning it.

Thanx Simman22, yes I meant with a larger cat but from what i,ve seen from auto part stores that 2.5 is about as large as they get and still be Ca legal. On my truck the guy i got it from it looks like he just put a backyard y pipe on and it looks small to me maybe 2".It came from out of state and had dual on it .he made it legal for cali.
Thanx again Charles

ahh i see. you could do true duals but you would have to buy two cats, on my 5.9 i have just the factory style cat with 2.5 out then a super 44 flowmaster and turndown and imo it sounds awesome!

Default TBI

As mentioned they are only capable of minor adjustments. I have been doing a small amount of research on this topic and it appears that if I wanted to do something like bore and stroke the engine, I would also have to go with an aftermarket controller. It really depends on how much you want to spend and what you can get away with based on where you live. My only modification has been a somewhat better flowing muffler with dual pipes.

Hi D100, yaa thats what i,m findin out . I don,t plan on boring or stoking it just get alittle more uumphh out of it .R/c is pretty heavy seem like it takes for ever get rollin.
The 140 hp rating seems low .maybe a 360 is in the future.
