Default 2001 2500 5.9 Magnum Cooling Issues?

Hi, I'm Tom.

My Dad bought a 2001 Ram 2500 Laramie a few months ago, Today he changed out the Thermo and gasket due to the Lower Rad hose not getting hot (Or warm for that matter) new thermo is in and Coolant topped off, but the lower hose still does not get hot? Also that side of the radiator is cold along with the Radiator cap. The upper hose feels good (Hot but not to hot) but isn't tight with pressure, it has some pressure but not as much as I think it should. You can squeeze it pretty easy. Anyway, I don't understand why the lower hose is not getting hot, the Heater core hoses are warm and the driver side of the radiator is too.

The running temp is about 150-160deg F. And it has been running for over an hour with revving and RPMs held over idle. There is nice heat in the truck so the thermo must be open. Its not overheating either.

So is the lower radiator hose being cold normal on the 5.9 Magnum? I have never seen an engine where one hose is hot while the other is cold being normal.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me,

-Tom

Your dads truck needs a new radiator. His current one is clogged.

Ok, I will check it out. If the radiator is clogged, wouldn't it over heat or at least get close to 210?

Thanks for your help!
