Here's a question someone may want to ask the engineers regarding the MDS, why is it that before the Hemi reaches op' temp I can cruise uphill at 30 -50km/h (ambient air temp 10 degrees celcius or colder), with the MDS coming in, and yet cruising at 90 km/h on a flat road with no headwind and once in MDS will jump back out if I happen to so much as twitch my foot (ambient temp could be 30 or minus 30 doesn't seem to make much difference).
I know there is a software update for those who complain that the MDS engage/disengage is too noticable for their liking (Pussy's), I actually prefer some "Feel" and the 4 cylinder rumble lets me know that it's engaged, and I can even tell now when it's about to come in, it almost sounds like it's 1/2 in or running on 6 cylinders.

Also, when are we going to finally see a smaller diesel for the 1500's, that could also be used in Derango's Jeeps and Dakota's etc.
Here's a response from the chat:

" the MDS works on available power that can be produced with 4 cylinders, and there is a large difference in the required power to move the vehicle between 30 km/hr and 90 km/hr. If it is cycling in and out, it means you are at the edge of 4 cylinder output. - Brian "

[Comment From CajunDodge CajunDodge: ]
I have a question. I have a 2008 Ram 1500 ST 3.7L. I came from a 1981 D-150, 318. Granted, budget restrictions had a big impact on my choice of trucks and fuel prices/commute to work afffected my engine choice. That said, my question is, why put anything smaller than a 318 in a Ram? Thank you and I appreciate your time.

Couldn't agree with ya more on that Dana

Why don't the engineers put the 6.1 push rods in the 5.7 themselves?

i will be doing a job at the time of the chat, or i would ask myself
This was the response from the engineers for this question.

""...we're not aware that there was any such response. We made some calls, but couldn't get any technical details on the difference between the two push rods. (not sure that there is anything significant). We'll follow up. Gregg ""

Default Cancer has all of my time ! Please forgive me as

first I had it and after an year+ battle,it is in remission, now 3 weeks after that good news,we just found out,my great wife and best friend has it and hers is much worse. I havent read emails or hardly anything for the past 4 weeks, but,as we here in northern Penna mountains have gotten about 20"+ snow and lots of wind,my 09 TRX4 Hemi has performed super and I love it as I must take her to radiation each day over slippery roads and not one tiny whimper from my Ram. I hope y'all have the same great performance from your Rams as mine. Merry Christmas to all and I hope to be back posting soon. Heminut !

Ram Nut, thank you for posting that, i have wondered for quite some time about it, truth be known, some sites read
Dodge Hemi 5.7L/6.1L (Stock Length) 7.850 X 5/16" Exhaust, 6.600 X 5/16" Intake.

But, other sites read
You all have probably heard that the 6.1 pushrods are the appropriate ones to use with Comp, Crane, Mopar 6.1 cams when you use them with the 5.7 to get the proper lifter preload.
I've had the 5.7 pushrods with the 6.1 cam and got knocking/ticking upon startup if the engine went very long without starting.
Now, I've got the Crane 216 cam with the 6.1 Manley pushrods and no knock/tick anymore.
26610 is the p/n for the entire Manley Performance kit. It's got 8 intake and 8 exhaust pushrods.
The 6.1 Manley intake pushrods are .050" longer than 5.7.
The 6.1 Manley exhaust pushrods are .025" longer than the 5.7.
Either the intake or exhaust pushrods can be purchased separately.

Mopar Performance reads
P5153629
Moly steel pushrod set, 5/16" diameter IN length is 6.625" and EX is 7.785".

so there is a bunch of people working on push rod lengths
others are working on the EGR baffle 2x EGR gaskets PN# 5277928 (you can pick this up at the dealership, i got both of mine for $7.)
EGR Baffle from www.3rdstrike.biz (Price is now $14) link here (http://3rdstrike.biz/cart/index.php?...products_id=40)

who knows if any of this experimentation will actually work in the long run
