If you do it yourself or have a lube shop do it, make sure that you keep darn good records, like WHEN it was done, the Mileage & keep any receipts, just start a paper folder. If your used to keeping records on your computer, still keep a hard copy paper folder
If the dealership does it, keep those records in the folder also

Keep away from cheaper oil filters, they have cardboard end caps, instead of metal

Make a copy of your receipts as well because the thermal paper that most all receipts are printed on/with will fade over time (esp. if they get hot!). You don't want to get into a situation where you need those receipts and then find they are 'gone'.

agreed with most on the 3000 mile oil change it's a great habit to get in, and i'd really rotate the tires every oil change also or rotate every 6k at the least..

Mobile 1 is very hard to beat for the money. Walmart even has it in a gallon size that saves a bit too. Remember you will need 7 quarts not the usual 5.

Ok, so now I know Mobil 1 is ok, which filter should I get. I have to say, I have used Fram in the past with success or luck, but I am thinking you all would not recommend that for the Hemi. I have read talk of the K&N filters and also Mopar OEM filters. Which is the best for the money and where is the best place to pick one up? Thanks again for all the insight!

i have the dealer do mine, they use the Mopar oil filter, NAPA, WIX, Mobile, Puralator, Royal purple, & Amsoil are all good filters
If you go with Full Synthetic, there are companies that make oil filters that are recommended for that too

I tried a mopar, and it didn't seal right. Bought a K&N and had no problems! The K&N is a little bit more expensive though. Just stay away from fram..

I never had an issue with the Mopar filters and they feel like they are decent quality. I've used nothing but Mopar for my Cummins and zero issues. I will use Mopar probably for the life of the truck as I never want to chance them ever saying anything were a warranty issue arise. That said, I also trust K & N for my Jeep, and they too are good quality. I agree that you should stay away from Fram. Not a good brand anymore.
