i have heard bad things about ppl trying to supercharge/turbocharge v10s. v8s and 12s are fine because they make turbo kits FOR the motor.

Unfortunately most manufacturers probably think there isn't a huge market for anything other than replacement intake manifolds for these engines.

yea seems like it. iv done some research and the idea behind the stock design is good. they made each runner 24 inches long to help build more low end torque which is the whole point of the truck v10. itll run the 1/4 in like 17 seconds, but itll also run the 1/4 in 17 seconds while pulling a camper

Not without spending BIG $$$$$

I dont know if anyone is watching this thread anymore, but I've almost finished a complete rebuild of my V10, and I may be able to take some guess work out of your project. For one, the procharger kit you mentioned sounds overly optimistic. When I bought my truck it had a paxton novi 2000 supercharger installed. The manuel that came with it claimed 120hp gain at 8-9lbs. That thing cost 5,000 new. The very noticeable whistle is sweet, but the hp to cost ratio is terrible. We had paxton send us some more info on it, and it turns out the power curves are almost identical. I dont believe they make this kit anymore, and paxton's service in general leaves alot to be desired.
Within the two years i've had it we've put approximately 5xxhp to the wheels, running it to 6,000rpm @ 15lbs of boost, 18 is expected once we fully tune the engine. This was achieved through mild engine upgrades, mild cam, pocket porting, larger valves, head studs, more fuel, short tube headers...
One thing you dont want to forget is the necessary engine tuning that comes with serious engine mods. I believe i've spent 1,000 on everything necessary to reprogram this thing ourselves. Even with and experienced brother, it takes some time, but saves big money.
With your automatic tranny i dont know what hp it'll hold, mines a 5speed manuel. The only damage i've done to it is to the syncros from trying to shift too fast, which it doesn't do well.
The limiting factors ive run into were, performance part availability, and now traction. I have 33x12.50 truxus sts, their real soft, and bite pretty good, but they wont get me another 5,000 to reach my 10,000 mile goal.
I'll have to look into the suggested viper intake, the viper engine is 8.3L and i was told no part is compatable, but i'll call the local dealership tomorrow. But with forced induction, intake is typically the last place to put much money.
I apologize for rambling. If you've got any questions, i'd be happy to help

no need to apologize i appreciate all the info since you seem to know more about the v10s and have done more to them than most other people. seems like you've already done pretty much everything i planned on doing, and would be capable of doing. the procharger to start with would for sure be the last thing id do due to the cost however i may try building the engine up so it can later accept a blower of some kind and handle it once the money and/or parts are there. having a family own a machine shop and being a machinist myself should prove handy once i have the skill to possibly design something that will perhaps accept a roots style blower at least for the cool factor. if you don't mind me asking what did you do to get the big v10 to turn almost 2k more rpms than factory? and who tuned the computer? cause that for sure will need to be done at some point and electronics are one area i have alot to learn about before working on the truck. sounds like yours is more of a strip machine and sounds badass. I'm hoping to make mine into a fairly unique mudder but got a lot of work to do

the extra 2k rpm came from having my cam ground to change the lift and duration. I could send you a copy of the cam card if your interested. There were a couple aftermarket cams available, but having it ground was cheaper and i was able to get exactly what i wanted. I think it cost $300, i'll have to check my receipt. But its a mild cam thats got a slight lope, but is still comfortable to drive.
I was just after a hot rod gas 4x4. I had too many friends that thought their diesels were the fastest thing around. I've probly got a faster truck for half the price.
Me and my brother have done the large majority of tuning. We started out by sending files through email to a company in FL, but that was a joke. I ended up buying all the necessary equipment.
I dont know how many options you'll have as far as bolt on superchargers go, but its probly a real small number.
How many miles has your truck got on it? Mine had 120k, and i've replaced every engine seal except the oil pan at least once. An engine this size is kind of a big deal
