Default AFE CAI BIG dissapointment so far

OK. I had purchased a K & N CAI for my new RAM and never installed it as I was recovering from shoulder surgery. Well, I started looking at AFE CAI's and I bit. I sold my K & N to a friend and ordered the AFE Stage ll with the dry filter. On my old DAK I had an Airraid CAI and was very happy with it. When I tromped it the intake noise would just, "roar" On the new RAM the AFE made, (too me) no difference in the intake air noise. I also have the 18" Magnaflow installed. However, on the DAK I had even louder Flowmaster and I could still hear the intake sucking in air. What's the deal? I even took it apart after the first test ride to make sure I hadn't left some packing or something in the tube. I understand things don't necessarily have to make noise too be working but...I like noise

That sucks bro! When I do a mod, I like to either feel it or hear it!

hmmm...I noticed an immediate change in noise both at the intake and my exhaust with my AFE Stage II.

That sucks man!

I put an AFE Stage II on my SRT8, and it made a HUGE difference to the sound. I was planning on getting one for my Ram, and I would've expected the same kind of results too. That's strange that yours had no effect!?!

Same here, I almost ordered the AFE last night for my 2011. Have one on my 07 and it sounds incredible, its really odd that they dont have the same effect on the newer trucks...

I completely agree with above. I dot want to spend money on performance mods just for looks. I want something out of it. I just installed my Volant and I'm in love. It almost takes over the exhaust sound when you get on it and I felt a big difference as well. Win win to me.

Hopefully yours will straighten up and fly right for you soon. Lol. Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Sorry to hear you're not happy with the stage II; my boss has one on his SRT-8 jeep and it's a LOUD bastard.

Sorry to hear about that.
What louder sound do you expect from a aftermarket CAI if i may ask? My AIRRAM CAI performs much better than stock but with the clutch fan i don't think i heard a difference if any. I know the engine sound increased which is expected with the stock box removal but can't recall a specifc increase from the intake itself. Maybe i just need clean my ears out lol.
