Default Dumped exhaust and smog?

So i was just thinking about doing a dumped exhaust on my truck. As far as i've read as long as you exhaust exits past you passenger compartment and there's enough pipe to put the tester in there, they'll smog it right?

And for my 2001 dodge ram i need a muffler with a 2.5" inlet correct?

Don't know what your local regulations require. At the minimum it would be no "Not Ready" codes (O2 sensor problem), a catalytic converter, muffler, etc...

And for noise and pollution sake (carbon monoxide in your cabin) I'd dump it towards the ground BEHIND the line of your cab and closer to the rear diff vs. towards the front.

Mine is dumped just before the rear bumper and still sounds killer.

Thanks. I'll try to check the regulations.
