Default anybody have a flowmaster?

hey everybody. does anybody have a 2006 or similar year ram 1500 with a flowmaster exhaust? im looking at the the "american thunder" cat back system. if anybody has one how does it sound? did you do the installation yourself? i was kind of hoping to avoid welding or cutting anything. is there any modifying required or is it just bolt on? any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

i had a flowmaster i think 30 series put on my 07 hemi and it sounds mean. it doesnt drone in the cab at all which is nice. Flowmaster is a great choice. not sure for 06 but i think as of 07 the exhaust was changed and it went up around the rer axle and down and you need special piping for it. I paid a shop 150 and they did all the work including welding and new muffler so worth not doing it myself. i went with the less loud one and it was plenty loud. the louder one 50 series is just to loud i dont want to be the center of attention all the time.

There is some cutting and welding needed to install a system on your truck.

I went with Magnaflow but that's a personal preference in the sound I get from those.

Good luck with your mods!

i have an 06 with a flowmaster. sounds just like a late 80's early 90's 5.0 mustang. i like it alot. the only thing i notice, and i am not sure why it does it, but after it's been sitting overnight or all day, when i start it up, it's real loud for like 1 second then it goes back down. not sure what's causing that.

mine does it to. it is part of heating up program on the truck as well as heating the exhaust.

..flowmasters have a distinct sound that you either love or not like.. I use to run flow 50's when i wanted loud. then I wanted better performance and went a different direction and had cutouts installed for the loud sound when i get in the mood..

I just had that kit installed on my truck, and I highly recommend having it welded when it's put on. The guy I took it too didn't weld it the first time, and 5 minutes after pulling away from his shop the right side tail pipe fell off. I actually liked the sound it had that way because it made it louder in the cab lol. As far as the drone goes, you shouldn't notice it unless you have the exhaust dumped.

What do you mean by 'dumping' the exhaust? Getting rid of it?
