Default Switching from CAI to an open air?

Thinking about switching from my homemade cold air intake to an open air filter. Curious if anyone has an opinion on this? Good or bad. Also what is the largest size i can buy for my 1996 dodge ram 5.2? I believe the ones sold at autozone are 16x3? Thanks in advance fellas

size would have to be a 14X3.

here is mine with a K&N filter and a oriely body. you would need to bend the rod into an S to do it.

You've ever thought off puttting a functioning hood scoop to maximize colder air? just a thought.

Here's mine...and I believe it works better than the crappy FIPK I had before.

As far as adding a scoop, it might help but only if the ambient air temp is below 90 degrees.

I bought a set off ebay and took them to a chromer. He didn't do the best job and they'll have to be redone sometime.
