Default P0751 Error

Hey guys;

I've had my 2007 5.7L Hemi SLT for just over a year now with almost no problems. This morning my truck threw the seemingly famous P0751 Shift Solenoid Stuck open/closed error.

Now I've done some research but can't seem to get a straight answer, how hard is this thing to replace? And does anyone know if there are any Canadian shops that sell this part other the the Chrysler/Dodge dealerships? Cause I just called and they want $495 for just the part. Needless to say I don't want to pay that much and if I can I want to replace it myself. I've a got a little experience under the hood (I.E changed suspension, brakes, spark plugs) and I'm a pretty quick learner.

Any help would be appreciated.

Steve

The solenoid pack is a single assembly with all the soulnoids and switches built into it. This is why it's so pricey. Replacement isn't difficult but it does require removing the valve body from the transmission.

Hmmmm, that explains a couple things. Ok next 2 questions. This is the first time I've dealt with transmission so I'm pretty clueless right now. Are there any walkthroughs on how to get the valve body out? Ive researched a bit on the net but have been unsuccessful. Also my truck seems to be playing with me, sometimes I have 1st gear but more often I don't, whats the story with these solonoids, are they something that just outright fail or can I pull it and attempt to clean it up. Thanks!!

Hey guys, this is kind of a bump and update in one. Ok so now my 1st gear is completely intermitant, I seem to have it when i start up, but once everything warms up after a 4-6 shifts I lose it. So again I ask, could this just be something I can pull apart and clean up? Or should I just cut my losses and get a new part?
