Default ST Power window, locks, and power rear sliding window upgrade

I hope this is the right area to post this question. Well, I upgraded my ST to power from bone stock (well I tried to). I changed out all the components and changed the interior wiring harness to one that worked, but still no power to the windows or locks. Do I need to take the truck to a dealer and have them reprogram the ECM?

Thanks in advance, Larry

Well, I don't know if anyone has even read this thread or not, but I took my truck into the dealership today to get it reprogramed. The service rep said he could have it done when I was on the phone with him. When I got there he retracted what he said and told me he thought that I said I had bought a kit from mopar. What I had told him was that they were original dodge parts.

So what I was told is that there is no way to update my truck to run the power windows/door locks/rear-power sliding window that I have already installed. I have to say that I am a little disapointed. I cannot believe that there is no way to upgrade the ST to power windows or locks.

A tech from B&G Chrysler mentioned that it is more likely the BCM that is why it is not working. Are these BCM's VIN specific, or can I just get one from a truck that had those options?

Thanks, Larry

Most times the computer in the truck cannot be programmed by the dealer for options the truck did not come with. Example: I would love to put the dual zone climate control in mine, but the computer cannot be programmed by the dealer so...

Now, in your case, you have installed simple switches and motors. Nothing that I believe need a computer to control them. So, get a power lead from a source not controlled by the computer and hook it up.

Thanks RootBeer

I figured that is what I would have to do, but was trying to find the more factory way to do it. Should I put in a seperate fuse panel to do it, or just piggy back off of something else?

Much as I love my truck (and I know I'm gonna catch some flack for this from somewhere lol), but that just seems like a lot of work for something that should have just come standard in the first place, IMO. Very interesting project you have going there man, and I definitely want to know how you make that work, keep us posted!

I'd set this up with power from an unused fuse location.

Cajun,
I know these options should have come standard with the truck, but the truck was such a good deal when I bought it I could not pass it up. Of course hindsight is 20/20 and I will never go that route again. It seemed like an easy project to begin with and again I got a good deal on the parts and wiring harness which was all plug and play just having problems getting power to them.
Michael,
If you don’t mind me asking, how would I go about using an unused fuse location?
