Default Cannot read engine codes

The check engine light on my 2000 Ram 5.2 came on today. I stopped by Auto Zone to get the code read and when they plugged the reader in it would not come on. They said I probably had a fuse somewhere that was blown but I cannot figure out which one it could be. Has anyone seen this and could help me.
Thanks

Try the key dance to see if their scanner had a problem. Key off, key on X3, codes will show on the odometer. Might also want to post up miles and any service history with the code.

I was thinking the key dance only worked on 97 and older.

thanks, crab man for the help, it did work and the error code was that the engine did not come up to temp fast enough. I may have to replace the thermostat if this continues to happen.

Sounds like a stuck open stat to me. The only fuse providing power to the DLC also powers your radio, power mirrors, and interior lights. If it's a blown fuse, then you'll notice a problem with these things as well.
