Yeah see, electrical isnt my strong suit, I know virtually nothing about it. I can replace an alternator all day, but ask me how it works...

What sucks about these is the ECM/PCM controls the alternator output, you would have to wire in an external voltage regulator in order to have it charge correctly.

What I'm wondering is what will you do in a post apocalyptic scenario where yours is the only truck running? Gas will only last as long as the dead cars drained tanks. Maybe some locals get a manual pump on a gas station tank. Still, won't last long. Gonna make your own? Have you built your conversion with alcohol-tolerant parts? Are you prepared to re-jet the carb? Talk about new best friends....or enemies. Anywhere you go, you'll be mobbed by those that want a ride at least, or your truck at most. That can turn ugly fast. Can you easily disable the truck so it won't disappear when you turn your back? Not knocking being prepared, just a few other things to think about.

Q: What I'm wondering is what will you do in a post apocalyptic scenario where yours is the only truck running?

A: All parts of the truck that matter have been (or are in the process of being) lined with Kevlar and fiberglass for the protection of the engine, fuel tanks, and occupants. Other areas have hardox plates. I understand my windows and tires are the current weak areas of the truck. I have plans for a quick attached, road warrior style window and tire guards.

Q: Gas will only last as long as the dead cars drained tanks. Maybe some locals get a manual pump on a gas station tank. Still, won't last long.

A: I have plans to procure gasoline. Once at my bug out location the truck will not be my priority.

Q: Anywhere you go, you'll be mobbed by those that want a ride at least, or your truck at most. That can turn ugly fast.

A: Ever watch War of the Worlds? The part he gets mobbed for the van? That is what I expect and have a plan for. Will I disclose it? No.

Q: Can you easily disable the truck so it won't disappear when you turn your back?

A: Yes.

This Works great!!!!

Chrysler Dodge & Jeep Alternator External Voltage Regulator Conversion Kit, ECU Regulator Bypass

This kit can also be used to prevent damage to your ECU from a High Output Alternator. Also, can be used as a wiring harness and voltage regulator replacement kit for any 1987 and earlier Chrysler Family vehicle alternator with dual insulated brushes. Can be used on the Chrysler Square Back, Nippondenso External Regulated, Bosch External Regulated, Mitsubishi External Regulated units.

Ran my setup in my Desktop Dyno as it sits right now:

At 5000rpm the truck makes 325 foot pounds of torque and 325 Horse Power.

Whats been done so far:

1. Fuel pump removed from the tank and an old school fuel pick up put in its place.

2. Holley Electric fuel pump put in-line along the frame rail.

3. Two inline fuel filters, mounted one between the fuel pump and the tank and the other between the fuel pump and the carb.

4. Intake manifold (Edelbrock 7577)

5. Holley 670 SA Carb

6. Linkage kit from the gas pedal to the carb.

7. Summit SUM-850003 Distributor and control box

8. Painless Wiring Harness

9. Removed all computers. Found out exactly what those computers controlled and converted them to non-computer controlled or removed.

10. Removed all emissions related components.

11. Whole new vacuum system (new lines and connectors, etc)

12. Pacesetter Headers

13. New NVG3500 Transmission

14. New brake rotors, calipers and pads

15.
Alternator External Voltage Regulator Conversion Kit

Also:
New oil pump, head gasket, intake gasket, valve cover gaskets, rear main seal and oil pan gasket.
All wiring has been crimped, heat sealed and shielded.
Custom redundant grounding system able to handle 250amps
All wire is over size and able to handle 140amps.

Left to complete: (Not in order)

16. 2.5" Stacked Dual Exhaust w/ high flow mufflers

17. New upper and lower Ball Joints

18. New Power Steering Gear Box

19. Wire Windshield Wiper Motor

20. Wire in CB, mount antenna and tune

20. New rims and tires

21. change the Cam shaft and replace the timing gear set while I'm at it

22. Build custom flat bed, front and rear bumpers, Build skid plates and slider bars, Shield fuel pump

23. Install 3" body lift kit (maybe)

24. carpet kit, head liner, paint job.
