I'm just gonna check them myself. Not quite sure how to check ball joints and all that good stuff, but I have a real good feeling it's the rotors.

Well, got down there today and jacked the front of my truck up to look around. I was checking the lug nut size to take the tires off and then found the problem. Put the socket on and the lug nut was loose. 3 lug nuts were loose on the front passenger side and 3 were loose on the front driver side. Luckily I caught it when I did, because they were close to falling off. I got them all tightened up and took it for a drive and no more vibrating. I'm gonna keep a socket and ratchet in my truck to make sure I have something to fix it if it happens again away from home.

Big O is the only tire shop here in town. Other than the good old boys shop, but I wouldn't trust them. I'm hoping they don't come loose again. I don't feel like having to take it back to Big O

I would have guessed that was it after your first post. It doesn't matter which chain you go to. Even dealers will impact gun the lug nuts on. Always watch and make sure that they torque them to specs so that they are not over torqued (or undertorqued in your case). This is the exact reason I normally do all the work on my truck myself. I recently had my tires changed by a local place only because they gave me an awesome deal. I specifically asked that they make sure and torque to spec. They were going to use the impact wrench to put tham on before I said something.

Jcasey, just noticed your post... one thing you might check for (even if your lugnut tightening worked for now) is the "keeper" snap ring that holds the rotor against the hub. On some aftermarket wheels, that ring needs to be removed to enable the wheel to sit flush against the wheel hub. I noticed my tire guys taking a pair of pliers to my hubs when installing my wheels, I stopped one of the guys and asked what the guy was doing (knowing that pliers aren't normal tire tools). He said they were removing that snap ring and that that it was normal procedure for installing many aftermarket wheels. He said that its not needed for normal operation and that the rotor will stay in place without the ring. He mentioned that if it is not removed there will be a vibration in the wheels as if the tire is very out of balance.

Your post reminded me of this. Just a thought...

Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty sure they took them out. My dad reminded me of the little rings and I watched them take them off the wheels.

If you have to remove that snapring, the wheels you just bought are junk. Good quality aftermarket wheels designed for the dodge ram, would take that ring into the engineering.

If you remove it, you can risk cracking the rotor.
