Ya the stock tires blow. Ive only got 20,000 miles on mine and there noisy , they are feathered out and just horrible. i just rotated them. gonna try to get some more time out of them and buy a set of BFG's or Nittos.

Lol, no I wish!!! its only "standard" if you give them $1300 and your wranglers but I've had three trucks with bfg and have had great service from those tires one set I put 4oK miles on before I sold the truck. That said though they are heavier and I sure they cost my gas mileage some.

Snow....hmmmm I remember that from when I lived in Denver. But now sunny south Texas!!! I used to drive my 2wd Lightning in the snow in Denver with a set of skinny hankook snow tires on a set of stock rims, never got stuck and I was lowered. Skinny snow tires are the way to go IMO.

Okay so this morning was the first time I have driven in a meaningful amount of snow and I can now officially say that these stock goodyears are ABSOLUTE CRAP. I just cannot believe how bad they are. Put on the brakes to make a left hand turn and I got the ABS chatter and she just kept on sliding . Problem is that I am not in a very good position right now to replace them, you know Daughter in University etc. etc. etc. First chance I get their coming off.

i hear ya man, I'm trying to save up for the BGF's. A good alternative to them is the Cooper's - either will be much, much better than stock.

I guess I too am in the minority. I was about to replace the tires a couple months ago, but I thought I would give them a chance in a decent snow. 8 inches in a day and no problems. I have only had ABS chatter once, and I was going too fast down a hill, but they stopped me short of the stop sign, so no complaints. Only complaint I have is in the mud when I was hunting. I had to use 4WD more than I liked, but they got me out. I can't justify spending $1000 on new tires for a little more traction. I have put them through the ringer for a stock tire, and have been pretty impressed.
