alot of it is how you drive in the snow. on my '01 i had 285 BFG's and got stuck three times upstate at my camp til i learned how to wheel in the snow, such as DO NOT SPIN em. the stock tires are fine as far as snow goes, but have heard some complaints on handling. my 2c.

more snow today and tires/truck went fine.

Problem is that I am not in a very good position right now to replace them, you know Daughter in University etc. etc. etc. First chance I get their coming off.
LOL, same same!!! Drove up on Hamilton Mountain last night and nearly hit a telephone pole while making a left turn and dead slow speed. NO traction . Calling today and getting new tires. I have always disliked Good Year Tires, but I gave them a chance . I consider myself lucky I did not wait until they let me down when I really needed them and found myself dealing with injuries and damage.

Michelin LTX A/T2 will be on b4 the weekend hopefully

In fairness, I don't think it would have mattered what tires you had on last night. I was down in Fort Erie driving the Dakota with LTX and it was all over the place. Turning corners or braking was near impossible. Depends on the actual conditions. The LTX are normally awesome in snow, but not at that time. Last night's snowfall was like a skating rink in any vehcle unless you drive a tank.

Hey MRP, I'm in Manchester. Go see Pete @ MTE on 166. He'll help you find exactly what you need. Very easy to talk to. Also, you can try tirerack.com. Thanks to the snow I can finally afford new wheels and tires for my 2500. going with nitto trail grappler 295/70/17. they're 33's. Just can't seem to find rims I like in the offset Pete told me I need. I had BF T/A all-terrains on an Isuzu and they worked great in snow.

I have had no issues with the stockers in Jersey yet...knock on wood. Granted, they do (imo) tend to slide a bit more, but I was out hunting with them in the woods and snow and she got right through.

Hey MRP, Tried to PM you but they told me my post count wasn't high enough (whatever that means). Anyway, I have a 2006 quad cab 2500 diesel 4x4 red. When I bought it new, I knew right away when I was due for tires I was gonna put something bigger on it cuz the stock ones looked way too small. Going back down tomorrow to talk to Him and make a final decission.
