If you really will be towing amounts in the 10,000 lb range on a regular basis, I suggest looking at the 2500s if possible as the 1500 may not be the best suited for frequent towing of such amounts. It can do it but it may test your patience, expectations and reduce the life of your truck.

Just wanted to add, make that a 2500 with the Cummins. Better motor and trans for towing.

3.55: 3,450lbs/8,500lbs
3.92: 3,450lbs/8,500lbs

4.7L V8:
regardless of tire size and gear ratio: 7,300lbs/12,500lbs

5.7 HEMI:
regardless of tire size:
3.21: 6,750lbs/12,000lbs
3.55: 8,750lbs/14,000lbs
3.92: 10,250lbs/15,500lbs

Note: Each one of those numbers is for max trailer weight/trailer GCWR and they are rounded down to the nearest 50lbs for max trailer weight.

Hope this helps out some.
Those numbers are not the same for every truck, I have a 5.7 with 3.92 gears and my truck is not rated at 10,250 lbs for max trailer. The only way to be sure for your particular truck is to go to the body builders guide that Rootbeer linked and find the options for your truck.

Smart choice.

I think you will find this baby will tow like a dream. Take some pics when you get a chance. I think the '10 2500s are a great looking truck.

Then you might want to double check your numbers then. That info that I posted I got off the body builder's guide. If you scroll all the way down where it displays the chart, there is a print icon. That's what I used.

I originally printed this out the day prior to my purchasing my truck and I double checked it by going back onto that site the day I orginially posted those numbers to verify.

Also if you look, I only displayed the info for the year and model that was requested.
