Interesting debate, folks. I'm surprised at that weight too, Alex.

My 300 SRT8 weights just a bit over 4200 dry.

Yeah, thats insane to think about Michael.

After reading through the thread, I think it shouldn't be a battle between the camaro, stang, and chally... but rather a battle between us and european cars and japanese cars. Both are very popular here in the states and sometimes (in JDM's case) cheaper than our own cars. Meanwhile Europeans die for handling and speed which they can achieve from a small displacement.

I could see the m3 taking out all 3 of those cars around a track.

I think there was one error, the correct weight of the Challenger is approx 4160. It might've already been posted in here but I don't think I saw it.

Hard to believe a GT500 is 300lbs lighter the GT is almost 500lbs lighter and the Camaro is 250 lbs lighter. The Fords stop approx 20 ft shorter, same for the Camaro from 60. From 80mph the Fords are 40ft shorter the Camaro 35ft shorter. On the skidpad the GT500 pulls 1.0g the GT .91g Camaro .88g Srt-8 .85g. In the slalom the Ponies pull 8mph quicker and the Camaro 5mph quicker.

This is just a reply and NOT BASHING to someone stating the Fords do not have a suspension that could hold a candle to the Challengers. Please note braking numbers (suspension plays a part) skidpad g's and slalom g's.

Now stating all that I have stated I would still pick the Challenger over the Camaro and given a great price I would 50-50 pick the SRT-8 over the GT500. cheers.

Oh learning to dig the new Ram day by day.

I will have the Mustang Gt 500 please.

Sat in a new camaro, it was too small for me, I am a big guy.
My head touched the roof, and forward visibility was limited to say the least, as the top of the windshield cut off much of my vision. So camaro would be last on my want list.

I just do not like the look of the Camaro. The front facing visibility to me has been an issue since 1993

Sad part is I've read the Ram R/T stops shorter from 60 than the new Camaro

Now how is that possible?

Ok, I went and dug up some research here, "as tested" data if you will, because I have a hard time going off of "heresay" and like to read facts if possible.

60mph-0mph distances
2010 Camaro SS - 105 ft.
2010 Mustang GT - 108 ft.
2009 Challenger R/T - 135 ft.
2009 Ram R/T - 135 ft.

Ironic that they didn't test the GT500 or SRT-8 during this comparison. Nice job MotorTrend.com...
