Default hey, new 89 dodge ram, need help

hello, i just purchased a 1989 dodge ram and it has a few things wrong with it and im not sure about the way to go about them.
the windshield wipers have one speed, fast. how would i go about fixing the speed so they are more usable.

the next issue i have is that to change the gears its a stick that moves to change from like park to neutral to drive. well, the stick does not move inside the dash and have no idea how to get it moving again, it i need to replace dash, or, well i have no idea..

any type of help would be great. thanks alot.

not sure about the stick question, but as far as the wipers go, you probably just need a new switch, or wiper motor. I would go to a junk yard and pull a wiper motor and switch off a truck and try that.

Ok, first, you do NOT need a new dash. But you do need to be really flexible to get to what you need in order to fix the gear selection indicator.

Most likely you will need to drop (not remove) the steering column because it the indicator is above it.

Get in there with a light and you should be able to see what you're looking for. You may even be able to see what the problem is without removing the indicator housing.

As for the wipers, I'd do the salvage yard thing and get a switch if its a whole lot less than a new switch from the parts store. Like close to free. Otherwise, skip it and get a new one.

Same goes regarding parts for the shift indicator.

One last thing, get a good repair manual for your truck. I've always liked Chiltons personally. Most parts stores have them or you can order one online.
