I like DOM but cost is getting crazy. Seam tube should be fine... there isn't a life safety issue like a cage. Adding HD steel bumpers actually defeats the Manufactures crumple zones and how they design the truck to pass there safety tests such...
soo welded seam tube should actually absorb impact better (while folding and crumpling)

Thing with the seamed tubing is I hate the seam, and often forget to position the tube seam in a way that the it would be hidden . the seam is indented enough that is should through powder coating, and grinding/sanding it is a bitch

Defeating crumple zones is the reason I want one! I hate to see vehicles totaled by a deer. When I got in a wreck in my 1976 Jeep with lap belts and no air bags or crumple zones and a solid steel bumper, it cost me $2 in rattle can to fix it. the Taurus I hit, folded the bumper and trunk lid up to the rear window. (Guy had brake lights out and failed to signal until he was actually turning and somehow I got the ticket?)

True! I did the same thin with my 76 Bronco, the girls door was toast. the trucks bumper and push bar just needed a little touch up The new bumper for my Bronco is a plate steel thats angled nice to slide over most cars or deflect away from them. I'm gonna use the same design on the Ram but with some tubing as well and try to keep it lighter.

i hit a deer with my last truck, had to replace the front bumper. i did it myself so it cost me like $300 but had i had a nice steel bumper it probably wouldn't have done a thing.

I have a harbor freight pipe bender and was have been planning on 3" .125 tube. Finding inexpensive tubing is another challenge and they its guess and check for me from there. I have a pretty good idea of how I plan to fab the front mount hitch.
I think the next time I rip out a fence I'll use the poles as a dummy test

had my local 4x4 shop throw me a quick quote, he said anywhere from 600-1200. for 1200 i would just buy one from a major manufacturer.

Depending on what you are looking for, most of the big companies will be close to twice that price, unless you go with a ranch hand.

Alien Patrol is one I didn't even get far enough on their site to see prices, because I didn't want a huge CNC cut "ALIEN PATROL" on the front of my truck, but to each his own.
