Default 2005 Wiper Problem

Not a great way to say im new here, but hello all.
I have an 05 ram 1500 hemi. The wipers are acting weird. Sometimes when you turn the wipers on, it doesn't happen, and a little while later they go on. Today I tried to turn them on the way to work, then I turned them off since they did not work at all. I came out for lunch, no key in the ignition, and opened the door, and it wiped once. I do not know what the problem is.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Z. You have a short someplace. Possibly a bad switch or relay which would be the first items I'd check. Don't go throwing parts at it, figure out what the problem is first.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

Im having the same issue with my '07, intermittantly wont work. (usually when i really need them too) Where is the relay for this? or how do i check the signal/wiper switch? Could this be related to the wiper motor recall that was out?

Have either of you had Recall J-11 done for replacing the wiper motor? If you have, then you probably have a bad multifunction switch.

I called chrysler and they said that recall doesnt apply to my vehicle, is there anything i can check to see if it might be? like a part number to the bad motor or something? That recall has never been done to my vehicle.

I had this same thing happen to my truck, but it was back when it was covered under warranty. They covered a new wiper switch under warranty, and I haven't had an issue with them since.

Aside from the recalled wiper motors, they're usually bulletproof. I'd wager on the switch being bad because they're a common failure.

Is there a posting showing how to replace the wiper switch?
