If it were me I would get the spacer since rubbing never sounds like a good thing haha. The spacer will get rid of any rubbing and it will also make the truck look more aggressive. The tires will stick out past the body if the truck a bit which looks cool...at least to me haha.

If you get a good quality spacer then you dont have much to worry about. Just get an alignment done after IF you get it done.

Default factory size?

isn't 33 12.5 20 roughly the factory size,i installed cooper zeon ltz in the factory size 275 60 20 and haven't had a problem,I did fender flare ,bushwacker extend a fender and will jump up tire size when i need new rubber.I'm looking at nitto terra grapplers in the 33 12.5 20 size ,maybe 35's

They're both 33" tires, but the 33/12.5/20's are wider than stock (roughly a 305/55/20)

The stock tires on my 08 (275/60 R20) calculate out to 32.99x10.83 inch tires(Garage Buddy App for Android phones). After I level mine, I'm throwing 35"s on it. Been looking at the new General Grabbers (like the ones on the Ram Runner, found in the General Discussion area)
